Having loved art from an early age, Emma took up painting again as a hobby when she returned to work part time after having children.
Throughout her career in landscape and parks management, Emma has been able to use her artistic skills to design horticultural and landscape features; including award winning gardens at the RHS Chelsea and Hampton Court Palace Flower Shows whilst living and working in Surrey. Emma now lives and works in Solihull in the West Midlands, exhibiting artwork in her local area and volunteering for the RHS in the Heart of England region.
Most of the inspiration for Emma’s art comes from the natural world, particularly flora and fauna of the British countryside. Emma mainly paints in acrylics but likes to experiment with mixed media and use different materials (such as sand, shells and grass) to create texture and add extra interest to her work. For some artwork the use of epoxy resin gives a glossy, glass like finish, which can really enhance colour and give greater depth.
Emma is currently challenging herself to do more work in watercolours, which she realises can produce some stunning results when used both on their own or with acrylic ink and other materials in mixed media art.
Emma is a member of Knowle Art Group, whilst also painting regularly and exhibiting work at Wren Hall.
